Culture: Go Golden Cultural Treasure Hunt

Robert Townsend

I used this in a camp once and it went really well. You can alter this activity to suit your needs. First, you need to find ten flags of ten different countries you want to teach to your ss. If you don't have a color printer you can always color by hand. Above the flag type the country name. Below the flag write "Capital City:" and the capital city of the that particular country. Next, find a picture of the currency and below that write "currency:" and the name of the currency of that particular country. After that, repeat the picture/information process with "religion" and "symbol".
Once all your countries are complete on each sheet. Create a worksheet for your s's group. The work sheet will have;
"Coutries Name"
Capital:
Currency:
Religion:
Symbol:
on it 10 times for each one of the countries. Before the class begins hide the first set of 10 worksheets with picture/information. After, you have given the semi-blank worksheet to the groups. They are to go on a Treasure Hunt of missing information. Reward the groups with candy or words of congratulations. When all groups are finnished then have a discussion about the information they found. This activity should take up about an hour, and it is for just about all levels.
